MOI

Well, where do I begin? Not at the beginning - it would take too long! :-)

I am originally from Vermont and currently reside in both Canada and the States. It amazed me just how similar the cultures of Vermont and Ontario, Canada are! Both are fiercely independent, people are friendly but hold their privacy very dear. :-)

I hold a Master of Arts Degree in Counselling Psychology with primary focus on sex offender treatment. My Master's thesis was developing a Safeguard Program for sex offenders in community based treatment programs.

Some people may wonder and ask how a person with a strong commitment toward survivors of sexual abuse can possibly work with the people who had ultimately victimized them. It's a bit of a long story, so I'll give you a short version. :-) My former work as an Adjunct Investigator for the criminal court system, responsible for pre-plea and pre-sentence investigations, led me to an interest in offenders of all types. My commitment to working with offenders is my way to assist survivors toward a world where offenders will ultimately take responsibility for their actions, become more conscious of their deviant patterns of behavior, and will learn new coping strategies to overcome their offending behaviors. I am strongly committed to a world of NMV (no more victims). My previous experience was sub-contracting to the Vermont Probation and Parole where I performed sex offender assessments within the Vermont Criminal Court System and provided individual and group sex offender counseling.

My previous degrees and experience focused on sexual abuse victims, memory and repression, and the physiological, neurological and psychological effects of childhood sexual abuse.

Along with my partner, Andy, we share a commitment and concern for those who have been sexually abused as children throughout the world. This commitment has led us to assist survivors via the internet however we can and in particular through internet technology. As a result, we travel frequently between Canada and the US in this multi national effort :-).
